The Problem
The Earth’s temperature is rising, disrupting weather patterns and ecosystems and increasing risks for communities around the world, especially for young people and future generations. Despite these growing challenges, many learners lack meaningful opportunities to understand climate change through hands-on, real-world experiences.
Across classrooms, campuses, and community spaces, people engage in sustainability projects and initiatives. However, these efforts often lack simple tools to measure and understand their real environmental impact or to connect learning with clear, comparable environmental impact data.

The Mission

The Juniper Journal Mobile App
Document Sustainability Projects
The Juniper Journal mobile app is a digital learning platform that allows users to document sustainability projects and measure their environmental impact in real time. Projects are shared in a global, peer-to-peer database, enabling users to learn from one another and collaborate across schools, campuses, and communities.
In-Person Workshops
Interactive Learning
The Juniper Journal leads in-person workshops that explore sustainability, climate change, engineering, design thinking, and collaboration through interactive, accessible experiences designed to spark curiosity and encourage innovative problem-solving. Each workshop combines guided concept exploration with hands-on sustainability activities, allowing participants to apply what they learn through real-world projects, build practical skills, and develop a deeper understanding of environmental impact within their own communities.

Environmental Impact Data
Impact and Learning Trends
Each user who documents a sustainability project in our app contributes to a growing set of novel project-generated environmental impact data. This includes metrics such as water saved, energy saved, waste reduced, educational reach, and CO₂ emissions reduced, helping reveal where sustainability impact and learning are flourishing and where additional support is needed.
